It approaches! [29 May 2006|10:17am]
in four days...The Gods of Fate have once again deemed that the time is nigh for the Unholy Trinity of Fire to unite and lay waste to all that stand in it's path.

The Green Room shall be coloured not green, but a fiery red where the Trinity walk, and a charred black where it has made its mark.

Recent events (for those that may be interested) [11 Apr 2006|11:06am]
Alright, this entry isn't going to be too exciting, but I am quite bored and thought I would fill people in on what has been happening in my life as well.
Lately I've had a general disinterest in leaving my bedroom. For no reason at all really, possibly laziness more than anything. I have been working on my literature survey for my thesis and its coming along alright. I don't think research is for me though.
That said, I have been to a few good gigs the last couple of weeks. Two or so weekends back I saw Artimus Pyle (US crust / hardcore band) with a bunch of other Melbourne hardcore bands and Roskopp. In fact, they were so good, I saw them 3 times over the course of the weekend. So I'm starting to get into some hardcore stuff on account of that. Stuff I'm really digging is Wolfpack / Wolfbrigade, Dropdead, Disfear and Look Back and Laugh amongst others. If you know what you're talking about, recommend me some of the good shiz.
Last weekend was Birushanah and Ryokuchi, a couple of very cool doom bands from Japan. So different to watch, it was wonderful. Ryokuchi had just a bass player and drummer (fucking heavy) and Birushanah had 2 drummers and 2 percussionists who played with hammers on these big tin drums with gongs and shit. Very cool. I ended up picking up a Ryokuchi tshirt and a Birushanah CD so it was a bit of an expensive weekend, but well worth it. Saturday nights gig I got fucking hammered and ended up talking some shit to cunts after the gig (as you do).
Also I updated my CD-tracker, so check that out. Slightly related, I am in love with this song: Daft Punk - Digital Love at the moment.
Apart from the music, my moods have been all over the place lately. At times I have been unusually happy and then I am feeling melancholy. More than anything I have been introspective, but thats not unusual for me. I'm actually feeling really happy about myself and who I am. Which is a good thing of course. I am changing so much at such a rapid pace and its really exciting that I can actually "feel" these changes.
Life is pretty much fine at the moment, and I am trying to enjoy my last year (hopefully) of being a student and not having to work full time.
Oh, and one thing that has really been annoying me recently: People, who when they quote a TV show or even something another person has said to them, put on some retarded American accent.

For those who haven't read / heard it yet... [20 Mar 2006|06:57pm]
About a month or so ago I went to The Pony bar in the city to watch some bands play. I was upstairs (where the bands actually play), and then I went downstairs to the bar by myself to have a drink. This guy comes up to me and goes "can I sit there?" pointing to the seat next to me. I said sure. Then he starts talking to me and asks me what I do. I reply "I study Software Engineering at uni". So he says thats what he did too, and we have a talk about geek stuff. Then he asks "are you here by yourself?", I say "yes". He asks if he can hang around with me for the night. I reply "Uhh sure, but I'm watching the bands upstairs".
I then go back upstairs to watch the bands, and the guy follows me! (even paying the money to get up) We watch one band and then the guy comes up to me and asks: "hey, are you straight or gay?". I say "I'm straight", then he goes "Yeah, me too" then walks off and I never see him again.

Disgorge [13 Mar 2006|12:11pm]
Disgorge...what more can I say but FUCKING BRUTAL. Definately up there with one of the best bands I have seen live, about 100 times better than I was expecting even.
Saturday started by meeting Darcy in the city around midday, and had a few bevvies in the city before heading back to my place. Much more drinking ensued, John arrived and we had a BBQ. We then made our way to Brunswick, which took longer than expected so unfortunately missed the first 2 bands - The Occularis Infernum and Mephistopholes. Which was a shame because I have heard very good things about both bands and I really wanted to see them.
First band I watched was MSI, this was the second time I've seen them and I wasn't as impressed as I was the first time. Nevertheless, they weren't bad at all. By this stage I was pretty, scratch that - absolutely hammered haha. Watched Intense Hammer Rage who were excellent as usual and then went with John and Darcy to get a big juicy kebab for dinner.
Arrived back at the venue to watch a bit of Dawn of Azazel, going between the bar and watching the band most of the time. They were decent, the guy putting on some evil voice in an American accent when he spoke between songs was annoying though.
Next: Disgorge. I've already said how good I thought they were but I'll say it again - As brutal as a hard kick to the knackers. Whoever said they were boring live must have rocks in their head ;)
Other than the bands, I spoke to some guy about bootlegs and gave him my email, bought a Corpse Carving CD for $10 (bargained with the guy for that haha), caught up with some people and talked a lot of drunken shit.
The gig finished at about 3am, so Darcy and I didn't get back to my place until 6am. We had about 4 hours sleep and then went back to see Disgorge again haha.
A lot of the support bands were the same, so I won't get into what I thought second time around. Ebolie were excellent though.

The wonderful adventures of Mikk The Magnificent and Metal Bogan Part III [01 Dec 2005|11:54am]
After the extended walk to the local pub, once again I sight the metal bogan standing at the bar (unmissable is his mullet and faded Pantera tshirt). I greet him and we begin to talk. He comments that the music is crap so I suggest he request a song. His reply is "I'm leaving it to the younger people to request some metal", but obviously they don't.
The night is similar to most with the metal bogan recieving compliments about his glorious mullet and him singing karaoke to "Shook me all night long"...death metal style of course. After finishing his song, he asks for the microphone again and screams "LONG LIVE DIMEBAG DARREL!!!". I'm sure Dimebag would give the horns and bang the mullet for the metal bogan's death metal karaoke. It appears Metal Bogan is drunker than usual on this night.
The lights of the pub are turned on, thus indicating it is time to leave. On the way, he says that he is hungry so we stop off at the petrol station and I buy him food only suited for the greatest of bogans, a meat pie from the petrol station. We then continue out journey, and before reaching his home, we discuss important isues such as life and horror movies.

Really good news [17 Nov 2005|03:20pm]
[ mood | pleased ]

My project team have won the 'best of class' award for our all year uni project. For anyone who doesn't know what it is, its a mobile phone application for Symbian C++ that uses GPRS technology and a text to speech engine to vocalise routing instructions. Thats the basic functionality of the program anyway. Its pretty much what has been eating 90% of my study and free time for this year, so its good to get this recognition.
Well, we have to do another presentation, this time to a lot more people from the industry as well as the dean of the uni, etc. Also, we get a certificate, connections and cash! (possibly around $100 for each member of the group).

Keep your hands to yourself metal bogan! [13 Oct 2005|11:20am]
As we walk into the pub, a bouncer pulls up metal bogan and says to him: "We've had some complaints about you", "What? Really?" responds the metal bogan. "Yes, just keep your hands to yourself".

The wonderful adventures of Mikk The Magnificent and Metal Bogan Part II [25 Aug 2005|09:36am]
Oh, what a wonderful sight I would see as I walk into the pub. Metal Bogan on the stage singing Black Sabbath - Children of the Grave. I made haste to the stage and joined him in his death metal karaoke version of this heavy metal classic. As we finished, we were applauded by the masses and the lady holding the karaoke competition added "isn't he hot!"; referring to metal bogan of course (and oh yes, he is).
I then proceeded to buy the metalest of bogans a beer (and of course one for myself) while other karaoke hacks attempted to compare to our level of greatness. While we sat on our thrones (couches) we witnessed many a horrible song being sung by absolute losers. The Metal Bogan stated that he should win this competition as he screamed abuses and profanity at the other contestants.
As we became more drunk, the metal bogan tried his luck with the ladies. Every female that walked past he would pinch her arse, with mixed results. I mean, what lady wouldn't appreciate this handsome young man pinching her on the arse?? But some didn't, and gave him an evil look, but all the bogan did was smile his big dumb grin and then yell more abuses at the karaoke contestants.
Finally, we came to the finals of the karaoke contest. There must have been some error, as the metal bogan wasn't even allowed to go back up for another song, let alone win the whole competition. Oh well, he didn't seem too bothered.
Finally, he seemed keen to leave the pub but I insisted he have another beer. So I went and bought us both beers. He was talking nonsence to some complete strangers to mlle but I sat with him and talked about old metal nonetheless. Then, some meterosexual comes up to us and asks for the bogan's attention. Being the nice bogan that he is, he allows the metero to talk to him...."You pinched my girlfriend on the arse" says he, and I laugh. MB apologises, and laughs about it as the metero walks away from us.
Sadly, my time with the bogan is up and we leave the pub. As we walk back home, we talk about the usual garbage: metal and horror movies. He commends me for not smoking again and tells me I should listen to some metal radio show on tonight. But alas, I am too drunk and go to sleep as soon as I get home.

The wonderful adventures of Mikk The Magnificent and Metal Bogan [14 Jul 2005|11:47am]
Well, last night started as any Wednesday night had for the last few weeks, having a few drinks at home (which included a tasty beverage from Belgium, Duvel [8.5%]), and my journey to the pub in the pouring rain was horrible but well worth it.
For who else would I meet at the pub other than METAL BOGAN himself. No my eyes had not fooled me, he was there! In the flesh (and a Pantera tshirt!)! I spoke to him at length about mullets to begin with, he asked me about various people and whether I considered their hair stylings to be mullets. Im pretty sure he told me to grow a mullet as well.
He also asked me about my ex-girlfriend (Sarah) who I had told him about many months ago. This here is one sweet bogan ladies, and hes single! Then, he said to me "Man you would have no problems picking up chicks but theyre all scared of me" hahaha, could be because he yells at them.
I asked him whether he likes death metal at all (knowing he would give me the same answer as he has given me so many times I have already asked him), he said "I LIKE EVERYTHING FROM CANNIBAL CORPSE TO MORTICIAN"...nope, no surprises there. We talked about other useless shit that we have spoken about one hundred times before, horror movies and weed. He called me a good boy because I dont smoke. How lovely.
We then proceeded to the bar, where I got a free beer for my bogan friend and we requested songs. First off, what else other than Whitesnake! With backup death metal vocals from the one and only metal bogan! I asked him if he knew what they had on the jukebox, and asked maybe they would have some Judas Priest. He gave me a shocked look (but as always keeping his ever-present bogan grin) and said "NAH WAY MAN". We also requested AC/DC, which took its time in being played and in the meantime we abused the jukebox for playing such crappy music. I called it nigger music and metal bogan nodded in agreeance.
So now the time had come for us to depart. I walked back home with the bogan, while he talked about horror movies and what is wrong with the youth of today while smoking a cigarette, and I thought about confessing my love to him. Maybe one day I will find the courage (through alchohol) to tell metal bogan my true feelings for him.

Bloodlust weekend [12 Jul 2005|04:21pm]
Well, last weekend was fucking awesome despite my having a cold and sore back.

Started on Friday morning when I arrived in Sydney, walked around for a bit and then met Ashley at Town Hall at around midday. Then proceeded to go to Jeff's house where much beer was consumed and then listening and singing along drunkenly to Destroyer666 - Unchain the Wolves while raising this toy pitchfork and sword above our heads. hahaha was killer. After that I didnt go to Kierans birthday but instead went to visit Ada, and went to bed pretty early but was feeling a bit crappy. Eventually went to sleep and woke up early again for Saturday.

Saturday I must admit was one of the most fun days Ive had for a long time. Was very good to catch up with interstate friends, especially Cath (thanks for the CD's, listening to Pelican now - very good), and other nerds. Also spoke to lots of other random drunken people who I had no idea who they were but for some reason they knew who I was, and also a very drunk Biker Dan haha. Much beer was consumed, much more than friday, in fact I predicted somewhere between 20 and 30 schooners of old haha I was quite drunk by the early hour of 3pm. My favourite bands for the day were Backdoor Mortuary, Gospel of the Horns, Poo People, Intense Hammer Rage and Raven Black Night. Missed out on a few bands I kind of wanted to see because of drinking and only purchased the Backdoor Mortuary EP which was a shame. By the end of the night my head was throbbing and my throat was really sore (oncoming cold) so half way through Denouncement Pyre I was so fucked I had to sit down. Went back to Ada's house and slept.

Sunday was a lazy day spending time in the city and not much else. Got to talk to Ada though which was nice. No hangover at all which was surprising.

Anyway, it was a totally awesome weekend, and I cant wait for next year. Again, it was good to catch up with all of my friends, especially Ashley, Cath and Ada.

here are some pictures (stolen from Cath):

Viva la muerte, that's my motherfucking principle [30 Jun 2005|09:46pm]
Que pasa Hombre, do you know what's up?
Don't fuck with me, baby, I'm gonna kick your butt
Your blood will flow when I start to cut
I'm a thriller, a chiller, a killer and though like Godzilla!
Man you gotta kiss me where the sun don't shine
I'm an assassin,
I kick your ass and I tear your spine.
Pretty soon your face will be my seat
But before you die you will dance this pungent beat
I think you don't know what I am
A homicidal lunatic
Despire of mankind
Human life ain't shit to me
And you will repent
That you came into my life, fuck your body up like a carcrash
Shoot you in your head, turn your face into a mash
I'm not afraid to die, because I am invincible
Viva la muerte, that's my goddamn principle
Yeah I like to kill at will
Against a guy like me exists no medicine or pill
Fucking bath my hand in human waste
Your twisting flesh is what I wanna taste
The disagreeable part is yet to come
I'm gonna get your bitch and fuck this piece of scum
And when you start to smell, after a while
She has to suck your dick, when I screw her in doggy-style
I jerk off in your face
And she licks it up
She swallows everything
Watching this stupid chick
Sucking a deadmans dick
Makes me really hot
Just like a rebel, I'm making trouble
Bitch, shut up otherwise you make it double
Don't offer resistance, because I am invincible
Viva la muerte, that's my motherfucking principle
